Benzema: I Want To Hang A Shoe In Madrid
Karim Benzema has signaled his intention to end his career at Real Madrid, having signed a new contract at the club until 2021.
The 29-year-old joined Los Blancos in a € 35 million contract from Olympique Lyonnais in 2009 and his current deal at the club expires in June 2019.
The striker, also listed in the French national team squad, has won 14 trophies in his job at Santiago Bernabeu, and now he has an agreement that will last beyond his 33rd birthday.
“I am delighted to have extended my work in the world’s best clubs,” Benzema said as quoted by Real Madrid’s official website.
“I want to hang a shoe here because no other club is worth this and this will be the last club in my career, I’m sure.”
“I am very proud of what I have achieved in Real, but I must focus on the future and try to win more titles.”
“My job is more than just scoring goals, where you have to get involved in team games, connect with colleagues, create chances.”
“There’s always a lot of criticism when you’re at Real Madrid, but it’s normal and that’s what keeps me going.”
