9 Years at Arsenal, Szczesny Feel Not Developing
Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny criticized Arsenal for not providing tactical training in his career. He felt much more developed after going to Italy.
Szczesny joined Arsenal in 2006. He had become the top choice in 2011/2012 and 2013/2014 before leaving in 2015.
The 27-year-old then performed well with AS Roma to convince Juventus to sign him last summer. “I’m only two and a half years old in Italy, but I’m growing fast,” said Szczesny, reported by the Daily Mail.
After being the top choice in Rome, Szczesny was mostly sitting on the bench with Juventus due to the presence of Gianluigi Buffon. However, the owner of 31 caps with the national team claimed no problem.
“I feel grown even though I’m not performing because I have to improve every aspect of the game on daily practice, I enjoy that.”
“In general, coaches in Italy are more tactical, while in Arsenal only focus on physical preparation,” added Szczesny.
